Education Technology
Online education and AI learning tools, backed by hands-on community and field experience.
What is education technology?
Education technology, or EdTech, is the use of digital tools to make teaching and learning easier. IcarusX works on online education and AI learning tools, drawing on a community of more than 100 members and ground activation on the SEQEP and HEQEP government education projects.
Learning tools only work if teachers trust them and students can actually use them. We have worked online and in the field, so we design for real classrooms: simple screens, low-cost devices and weak connections. Our work on AI treats it as a thinking partner that guides students rather than handing them the answer.

Common questions
How can AI help students without doing the work for them?
By asking questions and giving hints rather than answers. The student still does the reasoning, with support when they get stuck, and teachers stay able to see and override the AI.
Is AI safe for children to use?
It depends on the age and the tool. We follow UNESCO's guidance on generative AI in education, which recommends an age limit of 13 for independent use, so younger children should only use it with a teacher in closed, child-safe tools.
Do your learning tools work without good internet?
That is a design goal from the start. We use light pages and offline lesson packs for areas with weak connections.
